Let's test the answer choices...
A) x = -4
The three values become (-4 + 2), (-4 + 4), and (-4 + 6)
Simplify to get: -2, 0 and 2
The average = (-2 + 0 + 2)/3 = 0/3 = 0
Perfect!

Theory
The average (arithmetic mean) of x + 2, x + 4, and x + 6 is 0
Arithmetic Mean = \(\frac{Sum}{3}\) = \(\frac{x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 6}{3}\) = \(\frac{3x + 12 }{ 3}\) = 0 (given)
=> 3x + 12 = 3*0 = 0
=> 3x = -12
=> x = \(\frac{-12}{3}\) = -4
So, Answer will be A.
