Simple counting principle,
first 300 numbers
5,10,.....,1500 (5*300)
Now let's count
Unit Digit 5:
1 every multiple of 10 from 5 to 1500. So that's 150 5's
Tenths Digit:
2 every 100 (50, 55, 150, 155, ... , 1450, 1455) so that's 2x15 = 30
Hundred Digit:
500 to 595. 20 times here. 20
1500 (yep 1500 is the 300th number in sequence) so that +1
Total = 150+30+20+1 = 201.
