Factoring out the two equations we do have
(x+3)(x-9)=0
(y+4)(x-10)=0
The maximum possible values are 9 and 10
x+y=9+10=19
(x+3)(x-9)=0
(y+4)(x-10)=0
The maximum possible values are 9 and 10
