Explanation

\(\frac{8-2(-4+10x)}{2-x}= 17\)

Multiply both sides by the expression 2 – x, distribute both sides, combine like terms, and solve:
8 – 2(–4 + 10x) = 17(2 – x)
8 + 8 – 20x = 34 – 17x
16 – 20x = 34 – 17x
16 = 34 + 3x
–18 = 3x
–6 = x

Given that \(x \neq 2\) and \(\frac{8-2(-4+10x)}{2-x}= 17\) and we need to find the value of x

\(\frac{8-2(-4+10x)}{2-x}= 17\)
=> 8 - 2*-4 - 2*10x= 17*(2-x)
=> 8 + 8 -20x = 34 - 17x
=> 17x - 20x = 34-16 = 18
=> -3x = 18
=> x = \(\frac{18}{-3}\) = -6

So, Answer will be -6

If \(x \neq 2\) and \(\frac{8-2(-4+10x)}{2-x}= 17\), what is the value of x?

\(\frac{8-2(-4+10x)}{2-x }= 17\)

cross-multiplying

\(8-2(-4+10x) = 17(2-x)\)

distributing

\(8+8-20x = 34-17x\)

\(16-20x = 34-17x\)

\(-20x+17x = 34-16\)

\(-3x = 18\)

\(x = 18/-3\)

\(x = -6\)
