The question is asking which of the following choices do not equal odd.
all EXCEPT which one of the following must be odd?
Pick 1 as value for x, all answers provide odd result except C it is even.

If you are familiar with the rules for mathematical operations with odds and evens, you know that \(x^n\) is odd if \(x\) is odd and \(n\) is a positive integer.

So we have

(A) Odd + Even + Even = Odd
(B) Odd + Odd + Odd = Odd
(C) Odd + Even + Odd = Even
(D) Odd + Odd + Odd = Odd
(E) Odd + Even + Even = Odd

Since it asks "all EXCEPT which one of the following must be odd?", the answer is C, which is Even
