If x y = and x2 y2 = 3, what is the value of x + y? [#permalink]
If \(x - y = \frac{1}{2}\) and \(x^2 - y^2 = 3\), what is the value of \(x + y\)?

We know that \( x^2 - y^2 = (x+y)(x-y)\)

Therefore

\(3 = (x+y)(\frac{1}{2})\)

\((x+y) = 3*2\)

\(x+y = 6\)
