maybe I express myself badly. My bet.

Negative in the sense that we need a word that shows a proactive action in the entire meaning of the sentence.
Interrogate is the right word.

Sketch means drawing indeed. But this word does not say anything about a proactive approach to explain the mentioned four elements.
