Could someone help with blank(i) ?
Since mechanists are confined to operations withing the internal environment, they are "unsure" when exposed to external stimuli.
Shouldnt both "indeterminate" & "blurry" work ?

Blank (ii) -
As is mentioned previously, the main function of mechanists is to maintain the internal environment at a "constant" state.
Thus, "uniform" is the right choice, both "relative" and "unique" are out-of-scope
Blank(iii) -
one could explain the ability of organisms to (iii) ________ physical processes that might otherwise destroy them.
Key part is "that might otherwise destroy them" => indicating mechanists are doing "controlling" the physical processes so that it doesnt destroy the organism.
Only option that makes sense - "withstand", others - "permit" and "expedite" dont make sense

The main idea is that mechanistic operations only respond to internal environment and the organisms maintain a constant state throughout the operation. If you have a molecule that responds to only one medium; for instance fluid, then you can determine the results based on their reaction to experiments in this medium. But, if they are taken out of that medium and put in some other medium, then they are non reactive as their results are indeterminate.
Blurry was a trap answer as this would imply results are hazy but still determinate. We don't have that information.
