In one can of mixed nuts, 30% of the mixture is peanuts. In another can of mixed nuts that is one-half the size of the first one, 40% is peanuts. If both cans are emptied into the same bowl, what percent of the mixed nuts in the bowl is peanuts?

lets assume:
The first can is 10 pounds then 30% of 10= 3 pounds comprises of peanuts
The second can is 1/2 of 1st can= 1/2* 10= 5 pounds of which 40% is peanuts
Hence 0.4*5 = 2 pounds comprises of peanuts
The bowl comprises of total 15 pounds of nuts of which 2+3=5 pounds is peanuts
% of peanuts in the bowl= 5/15*100= 33.33% (d)
