To find the area of the right-angled triangle, the height "x" is required.
As per the information,
\(12^2 + x^2 = (x + 8)^2\)
or \(144 + x^2 = x^2 + 16x + 64\)
or \(x = 5\)
Area of triangle = \(\frac{1}{2} * AC(base) * Height(AB) = \frac{1}{2}* 12 * 5 = 30\)
