Step 1: Understanding the question
ABCD is a parallelogram with one interior angle as 60.
Area of the parallelogram is base * height.
Also, Height of the equilateral triangle is same as the height of the parallelogram.

Step 2: Calculation
Height of equilateral triangle = \(\sqrt{3}\frac{a}{2}\)
= \(\sqrt{3} * \frac{8}{2}\) = 4\(\sqrt{3}\)

Area of the parallelogram = base * height = 12 * 4 \(\sqrt{3}\)
= 48 \(\sqrt{3}\)

(D) is correct
