Re: In the figure, the diagonal BD of square ABCD is 3. [#permalink]
Expert Reply
the diagonal is \(x \sqrt{2} = 3\)

\(x= \frac{3}{\sqrt{2}}\)

rationalize

\(\frac{3}{\sqrt{2}} \times \frac{\sqrt{2}}{\sqrt{2}}\)

\(\frac{3 \sqrt{2} }{2} \times 4 = \frac{12 \sqrt{2}}{2}\)

\(6 \sqrt{2}\)

I think there might be a typo here. I got the following

side length = 3/√2
perimeter = 4 * 3/√2
simplify perimeter by multiplying by 1: (√2/√2)* (12/√2) = 6/√2

Hi @SusieShushi,

I think you have a typo here on the last line: (√2/√2)* (12/√2) = 6/√2. You have a '/' in 6/ √2 that should not be there.

You see: (√2/√2)* (12/√2) = (12√2)/2 = 6√2 and not 6/√2
