In the preceding figure, line SA is parallel to line TB. If the measure of BTU is 60 degrees, what is the measure of ATB?
(A) 30
(B) 40
(C) 50
(D) 60
(E) 80
Kudos for the right answer and explanation
Question part of the project GRE Quantitative Reasoning Daily Challenge - (2021) EDITIONGRE - Math BookLet x = ∠ATB
Since SA || TB, we know that ∠SAT is also x°
Since angles on a line add to 180°, we know that ∠ATS = (120 - x)°
Aside: Notice that (120 - x)° + x° + 60° = 180°
Since ∆SAT is an ISOSCELES triangle, ∠AST = (120 - x)°
Finally, all angles in the green triangle must add to 180°
So, we can write: x° + (120 - x)° + (120 - x)° = 180°
Simplify: 240° - x° = 180°
Solve: x = 60°
Answer: D
