It may be compulsory to learn more than 2000 words for GRE preparation. But I have a idea to easily memorize the words. I heard about the app named Memorytrix. It was suggested by my friends. Give it a try,if you are interested.

For those who say it is compulsory to memorize at least 2000 words, what list of words do you guys use? For example, which prep book's words do you find most reflective of the GRE questions.

A good grasp of GRE voc is crucial for the test.

However, memorization is not the key to beat the test. The key is a good standard English and to understand the meaning of the sentences in front of you of the RC passage.

It is important to be familiar with as many words as possible but from what I've see, with around 1500-2000 words, it is possible to eliminate options, even if I don't know 1 or 2 words. What helps me, I guess, is that I am able to anticipate the blank in most cases.
