This is a shrinking gap question
Bob is now 1 mile west of John
So, the gap = 1 mile
John is walking east at a speed of 3 miles per hour, while Bob is also walking east, but at a speed of 5 miles per hour.
5 mph - 3 mph = 2 mph
So, the gap SHRINKS at a rate of 2 mph
How many minutes will it take for Bob to catch up to John?
time = distance/rate
= 1 mile/2 mph
= 1/2 hours
= 30 minutes
Answer: A
