Lines are drawn on a rectangular piece of paper as shown in the figure. Some of the portions were shaded and then the paper was cut along the lines and the cut out portions were put inside the bag. If a cut out portion is selected at random from the bag, what is the probability that it would be shaded? (Note : Probability of picking each portion is equal)

We are given a rectangular piece of paper which is divided into 12 regions out of which 5 are shaded.
We need to find the probability of getting a shaded region if one region is selected at random out of 12.
Given that the probability of picking each portion is equal, hence total number of ways
of picking a portion =\( ๐ถ^{12}_1 = 12\)
Similarly, total number of ways of picking a shaded portion = \(๐ถ^5_1 = 5\)
Using the formula; ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ก๐ฆ =๐น๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ถ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ก๐๐ ๐ถ๐๐ ๐๐
