We are given list 1 and list 2, and we need to find the value of 𝑥 if both lists have
equal mean.
Now, the terms in List 1 are in arithmetic progression with common
difference of 5. If a sequence is in arithmetic progression, mean and median are
same. Median is central value. In list 1, out of five terms 3rd term would be the
median. So, we have,
Mean of List 1 = Median of list 1 = 15
It is given that mean of List 1 is equal to mean of list 2
Mean 15+15+40-30+20+x/6=15
