No, it's not a silly question. MBA will not make you an economic analyst due to lack of training in economic theory, while MA econ may. Put more generally, MBA is a general degree, while MA/MS is usually a specialist degree. Consequently, people with MBA go on to do general roles, such as management, consulting, IB, sales or marketing. People with MA/MS usually do more specialized roles, such as economist, data scientist, programmer, engineer, scientist, psychologist, sociologist, etc.
