A. 80 B. 160 C. 240 D. 360 E. 480
We can solve this question by using equivalent ratios
We'll use the ratio: preferred Brand X/preferred Brand Y Given: 120 preferred Brand X Let y = the number of people who preferred Brand Y
We get: 120/y = 3/1 Cross multiply to get: 3y = 120 Solve: y = 40
So, 120 people preferred Brand X, and 40 people preferred Brand Y TOTAL number of people = 120 + 40 = 160
Answer: B
