The probability of selecting either a black marble or a red marble: [ select 1 out of 4 black + select 1 out of 3 red] / select 1 out of 16 total marbles = [4C1 + 3C1] /16C1 = [4 + 3] / 16 = 7/16
The probability of selecting either a yellow marble or a green marble: [ select 1 out of 5 yellow + select 1 out of 4 green] / select 1 out of 16 total marbles = [5C1 + 4C1] /16C1 = [5+ 4] / 16 = 9/16

QUANTITY A: The probability of selecting either a black marble or a red marble
There are 16 marbles altogether in the bag.
There are 7 marbles that are either black or red (since there are 4 black marbles and 3 red marbles in the bag)
So, P(selecting a black or red marble) = 7/16
QUANTITY B: The probability of selecting either a yellow marble or a green marble
There are 16 marbles altogether in the bag.
There are 9 marbles that are either yellow or green (since there are 5 yellow marbles and 4 green marbles in the bag)
