Choice (A) strengthens the argument. In fact, it guarantees that the conclusion is true, but it’s not the assumption. For choice (B), the wording is too strong because fixing the trade imbalance does not require that most consumers from Y purchase cars from X. Choice (C) says that if consumers are not inclined to buy automobiles, then the plan is no good. Thus, this is essential to the plan working. Choices (D) and (E) are not necessary to lessening the trade imbalance.
