Hi Experts,
I have written my first AWA, and really looking forward to knowing feedback on the same.
PS: Please let me know if we have any other forum to post the AWA for review/feedback.
Issue Prompt:“Competition for high grades seriously limits the quality of learning at all levels of education.”
My response:
High grades will typically admit any student to the best colleges in the world, even though there are few consequences with high grades. I mostly agree with the prompt’s assertion that high grades limit the quality of learning for two reasons.
First things first, Students will not be innovative rather they look only for the information to get the high grades. For instance, you will not expect someone to be innovative when their teachers just focus on the topics that get them high grades. While this will in turn have an impact on society as well as the economy because there will not be anything new that causes the economy to be stagnant. In turn this results in low employment as students graduate with knowledge that will not be useful for real world applications.
Second thing second, there will be pressure on the teachers too from the school/college management to get the best grades. This will have an impact on students as well as teachers, who will teach only content that is required for high grades. While students who have wider interest in the understanding subject will be less interested in exploring new ideas or methodologies. This limited content teaching will less sharpen the students in their thinking about society. For example, maybe think of people who work in NASA or any other top institutes. They never limit their learning, results in helping the world in a better place whatever ways they are doing now.
However, getting high grades might make students more competitive in a few aspects of life such as they can take up the pressure when preparing for exam that in turn help them to handle the situations in life. Also, getting high grades will give students a boost to join top institutions so that they will learn widen knowledge. Even though getting high grades will be a trivial advantage, on overall competition for high grades will clearly have more disadvantages.so I agree that competition for higher grades will seriously limit the quality of learning.
Carcass: Waiting for your response sir.
