Let the coordinates of P be (x,y)
now distance between (0,0) and (x,y) =
the square root of 40 = square root of (x^2+y^2)
Square root from both sides gets canceled. now we can check with the options given and whichever option gives us x^2+y^2 = 40 will be the answer.
