We are given that renting office chairs costs $2/day per chair and tables costs $1.5/day per table whereas purchasing a chair and a table costs $15 and $12 respectively.
We have to compare
Quantity A: Cost of renting 8 tables and 10 chairs for 12 days and 9 days respectively Quantity B: Cost of purchasing 10 chairs and 12 tables
Now, the cost of renting a table for 1 day = $1.5
The cost of renting 8 tables for 1 day = 1.5 × 8
The cost of renting 8 tables for 12 days = 12 × 1.5 × 8 = $144
Similarly, the cost of renting a chair for 1 day = $ 2
The cost of renting 10 chairs for 1 day = 2 × 10
The cost of renting 10 chairs for 9 days = 9 × 2 × 10 = $180
So, the total cost of renting 8 tables and 10 chairs for 12 days and 9 days respectively
= $144 + $ 180 = $ 324 Hence, the quantity A = $ 324
Cost of purchasing a table = $12
The cost of purchasing 12 tables = 12 × 12 = $ 144
Cost of purchasing a chair = $15
The cost of purchasing 10 chairs = 15 × 10 = $150
So, the total cost of purchasing a table and a chair = $144 + $150 = $294
Hence, the quantity B = $ 294
Hence, quantity A is greater than quantity B.
