exhilarated and milquetoast
This passage is stating that the idea of riding a motorcycle helps the man break away from his boring existence. "Vetoed" means "prevented?' The notion of riding a motorcycle does not prevent the man from doing anything. The passage dearly shows it exciting him and empowering him. "Censured" means "reprimanded?' Again, the passage does not show the man being "reprimanded" for wanting to ride a motorcycle. "Exhilarated" means "excited?' Riding a motorcycle would cause the man to feel excitement because the rest of his existence is "the safety of an office environment?' For the second blank, the passage is talking about the type of person the man has always been - very meek. "Obdurate" means "stubborn?' Nothing about the description of the man's life describes him as being "stubborn?' "Contrarian" means "going against popular opinion?' Again, nothing in the passage shows the man contrarian in his life before discovering motorcycles. "Milquetoast" means "meek?' One who prefers the "safety of an office environment to anything else" can accurately be described as "milquetoast."
