Please rate (On a scale of 1-6) the following argument on the topic - "Robots are coming and it is a threat to our livelihood"
Artificial intelligence is attracting many inventions and researches in the recent times.Robots are expected to become our next companions in the days to come. Will the growing reliance on the robot be a threat to our livelihood? Will technology make our lives easier or will it become a bane to our livelihood? Is this a valid concern or a concern which came up because we all fear change. Yes, any change gives room to many new doubts, fears and alarms in our minds. I believe artificial intelligence is going to create a new revolution which will bring about a change to our livelihood and will not threaten our jobs altogether.
Looking at our history, we see that with every revolution new kind of jobs were created, which brought in a shift in the livelihood and did not endanger it completely. Before industrial revolution, people were primarily employed in the agrarian sector. Industrial revolution created new jobs in the manufacturing sectors and likewise software revolution lead to the growth of jobs in the service sector.Today, we work in a sector which did not exist during the times of our fore fathers.Hence, the revolution by artificial intelligence will lead to the growth of research oriented job in the days to come.We may find many scholars and research scientists in the future and fewer people in mechanical jobs.
Growth of robots may endanger jobs which are mechanical and demand less cognitive skills like the job of a house maid, drivers, butlers etc.A machine or a bot can only replace a mechanical or a redundant work. A human brain is definitely superior to any other machine out there. The cognitive and behavioral skills of a human being cannot be replaced by a machine. There is no doubt that a state or a country cannot have robots governing them. For the creation of algorithm and robot design we need human brains. We need humans to monitor a robot and service it. Human will continue to be the controllers of every aspects of life. As long as there is human dominance there is no threat to their livelihood.
Therefore, we can overwhelmingly welcome the change created by artificial intelligence with no fear regarding our livelihood. As it is rightly said - "Change is the only constant". So accept the robots and do not fear them. Nevertheless, the brains behind the algorithm of the robot can always generate jobs and means to meet our bread and butter.
