The art work is a paean, which means is a triumph or a celebration per se, sterile.
Instead, the acknowledgment of the art should be brought to a much more large audience, as such everyone could get benefits.
So the best fit here is foibles which means the weak side of the artist but in the sense the human and warm side of the artists.
I.E. is like to say: we should highlight the good side of the art and not show it as cold to the large public. So, this weak side will humanize the art itself
