when I looked at the question on my first glance and then the answer choices, I was stupefied. Not because does the language of the question possess difficulty, but any of the answer choices could work. Also, I did not know the meaning of August (expect it is one of the months).
However, I re-READ the question and this time hoping to find any clue. It became clear to me that this imposing architect has some SACRED significance to the Mayans. The building was used to create an echo sound that resembles with that of the sacred bird. Therefore, I could say that this building must be "venerable". Now, I have to find the closest synonym. Out of all the choices except for "august", none of those could work.
Hence, the answer has to be A & D.

if one notice there are less clues before the ; all the clues are beyond ;
My word was a BIG, but when I look at option choices non matched with my words.. I pondered a bit..then I realize venerable and augst goes well with the theme and are a pair too.
