It’s a good idea to think about whether palatial is a positive or a negative adjective. A fortune has been made, so the home will be described in a positive way. You can try to think of words that may come from the adjective palatial, such as palace. In this way you could conclude that a palatial home will be similar to a palace. An abode was inhabited, so you may be able to conclude that “abode” is a synonym for “home”.
