The first sentence will both deal with the idea that there is a lack of supervision and with the idea that there are negatives in studying abroad. Rigor, meaning strictness or rigidity, deals with both ideas and is the correct answer. The sentense is saying that a lack of stict enough cirriculum is a negative.
Revelry means making merriment...partying. The second sentence is saying that without supervisions and a strict cirriculum, students end up partying instead of learning the culture of where they are visiting. While assimilating is what they should be trying to do, the sentence is saying that students _____ the culture in favor of partying. The answer to the blank needs to be something meaning that they ignore learning the culture and instead party. While condemn would be something that they could do in order to party, its too strong of a word. The students are ignoring or not caring about the cultural aspect, not directly dispising it (it would be a bit odd for someone to study abroad somewhere they strongly disliked). Shun means to avoid or reject and is the correct answer here.
