My Response :
Humans are consuming natural resources at rate much faster than these are produced. Now there is a race among humans to find alternate resources and to seek resources we have started to look our of the Earth in the endless space. I am not completely agree with author’s statement. Is there any alternate way to get required budget for such programs, author has not mentioned it. May be buy cutting budget for facilities given to government officials or by reducing not so necessary foreign trips of officials and politicians, we can arrange required budget.
If a country’s economic condition is so poor that it is not able to provide food, medicine, basic education and protection to its citizens then instead of putting money on space programs it should focus on these basic requirements first. For India, at the time of independence main problem in front of first government was to ensure it’s citizens are getting basic facilities first. My keeping this in mind first prime minister of India Late Shri Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru put more budget for food, education and defence and secured a little amount for space programs. Future of a country depends on its children. What type of a space program a country will run if its children are not getting proper medical facilities like vaccination, if they are not getting proper education then who will run space program for country, will a country hire people from outside ? If a country does not have proper defence system then it’s existence with freedom may not long last.
But if a country is able to provide basic facilities to its citizens then it should not reduce it’s budget for space programs. Space programs can help a country to launch its own satellite in the space for communication, tracking and weather forecasting. Which will help a country to save money by not buying such services from other countries. It can also improve its defence system by investing in proper space programs.
Future belongs to space, countries are running a race to reach at moon, mars and try to establish their reign there to consume more resources and finding a other place to live than Earth. So if a country has basic facilities available to its citizens then instead of reducing budget for space program it should find other alternate resources to fund necessary humanitarian projects . But if a country is not able to provide basic facilities to its citizens then it should more focus on these facilities.
Can any one rate my response ? Thank you.
