I would be grateful if anyone could review my issue essay and give me some feedback.
Thank you in advance.
In any situation, progress requires discussion among people who have contrasting points of view.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.
For many years, people have tried to find a single formula for improvement. Unfortunately, many factors play a role when it comes to progress, and such criteria have to be in harmony to ensure success. according to this prompt, discussing the situation with the people who have contrasting opinions has a significant influence and should not be ignored. Although I must concede that in some cases and conditions, this kind of discussion does help, I mostly disagree with this assumption for stated reasons.
First of all, opposite ideas can be helpful in finding the flaws of a given plan or product. For example, consider a tech company which is going to lunch a new smartphone this year. If they only talk to people with same ideas, they will not be able to assess their products in an impartial manner. This biased evaluation may lead them to failure, for there are a huge number of people in the market who might find their device not functioning properly. This failure cannot be avoided unless they know about the shortcomings of their product. On the other hand, sharing the product with people who are against it and asking them for honest feedback can assist the company figure out the weaknesses and drawbacks of the device and save a large amount of time and money.
Nevertheless, an argument with people with opposite mindsets is discouraging most of the time, which in turn may stop any progress at all. Research has shown that one certainly needs hope and support in order to succeed. Consider a person who wants to pursue a degree in art. A huge portion of population in any society assert that studying art is pointless. If the mentioned person always discusses his idea with such humans, he will feel rejected or disappointed, as he might receive sentences like, “you are wasting your time by studying art.” or “it is better to study medicine and engineering rather than art.” This example clearly shows that it is not possible to discuss every situation with such human beings, and in some occasions, one should talk to people who can support his decision as well as encourage him to strive for progress.
Moreover, such discussions are extremely critical and will often result in more arguments. Therefore, it not only does not cause any progress but also halt any improvement. To illustrate, take a CEO of a big firm as an example. In a big firm, there definitely exist many perspectives. If the CEO always tries to discuss all maters with employers, they will not be able to reach to a useful conclusion most of the time. Hence, this CEO will run into great trouble in the end. Accordingly, discussions should be carried out with great caution, and in most cases, it has to be done among people with same tastes and interests, because if doing so, the people involved will be able to conduct a friendly and productive debate and discover enlightening solutions.
In conclusion, progress is such a complex issue with so many vital factors, and no one can state a simple statement about it with absolute certainty. Nonetheless, despite some advantages like improving the quality of a product, I am more inclined to believe that the mentioned type of discussion is mostly harmful since it may promote more disagreements and be disheartening.
