In this problem, we are NOT specifically told the scores of each quintile groups.
Then we can think that for A the 2 students' grades woould be 50 and 51 whose total would be 101
or the 2 students' grades woould be 30 and 31 whose total would be 61.
Then we can assume that the scores of student in the top
quintile group is 100 or 80.
In this way, we cann know that the answer is D.

(D). Quintiles (“fifths” of the data) define relative scores, not absolute scores. Imagine two possible score distributions:
Example 1: The class’s scores are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (20% of the class scored each of these). In this case, adding up the two lowest quintile students would be 1 + 1 = 2, which is less than 5, the score of a top quintile student.
Example 2: The class’s scores are 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 (20% of the class scored each of these). In this case, adding up the two lowest quintile students would be 10 + 10 = 20, which is greater than 14, the score of a top quintile student.
The relationship cannot be determined from the information given.
