(4+5)/ 5=4/ 5y | *5
9 = 4 / y
y = 4/9

plug 4/9 in for y in Q. A: 8 / (9*4/9) = 8/4 = 2 --> equal to B --> solution C

Here's another approach...

Given: 4+55=45y

Simplify left side: 95=45y

Cross multiply: 20=45y

Divide both sides by 45y to get: 2045y=1

Simplify: 49y=1

Multiply both sides by 2 to get: 89y=2

Answer: C
