Let’s denote X as number of liquid X parts in 1 liter of solution Y
Let’s denote W as number of parts of water in 1 liter of solution Y
Initially we have:
0.3x + 0.7w for one kilogram of solution Y or:
2.4x + 5.6w for 8 kilograms of solution Y
Evaporating 2 kg of water results in:
2.4x + 3.6w
Adding 2kg of solution Y means adding (0.6x +1.4 w) to (2.4x + 3.6w)
The final composition of mixture is:
3x + 5w
The percentage of liquid x is: 3/ (3+5) = 3/8 =37.5%

Solution Y = 8 kg
Liq. X to Water = 3:7
Liq. X = 3(3+7)(8)=2.4 Kg
Water = 7(3+7)(8)=5.6 kg
After the water evaporated;
Liq. X = 2.4 kg
Water = 5.6−2=3.6 kg
In 2 kg Solution Y;
Liq. X added =3(3+7)(2)=0.6 kg
Water added =7(3+7)(2)=1.4 kg
After adding Solution Y;
Total Liq. X =2.4+0.6=3 kg
Total Water =3.6+1.4=5kg
Liq. X =3(3+5)(100)=37.5%
Hence, option C
