Some people believe that corporations have a responsibility to promote the well-being of the societies and environments in which they operate. Others believe that the only responsibility of corporations, provided they operate within the law, is to make as much money as possible.
Write a response in which you discuss which view more closely aligns with your own position and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should address both of the views presented.
In the modern era, as there is a growth of trade and technology, different corporations have come into existence. These are not only providing employment opportunities to a number of people but also representing the country's status and reputation in fields of development. Many multi-national corporations have emerged in recent times in fields of automobiles, food industry etc. On a global scale, corporations are not only an epitome of growth of country but also enhancing socio-economic status of it.
The main purpose of a corporate is obviously to earn maximum benefits and to earn money as long as it proves beneficial for its company growth. Different plans and strategies are designed and implemented to progress the corporation money making. After all, for a corporation to sustain, money is a prerequisite and essentiality. A legal way of money making is acceptable and beneficial in long run.
But it can be seen and experienced that money making can't only be the goal of a cooperation. To sustain a corporation for a long time and for its growth, it is necessary that it should address all the problems associated with the well-being of society and environment in which it operates. Money can satisfy greed and provide happiness for a shorter period of time but to extend and excel in work, a proper environment is obligatory.
We can practically experience this in our daily life that admiration of someone's work and taking care of person's well-being can increase his productivity. If a corporation wants to succeed in a longer run, it should not be money-minded or parsimonious in regard to its surroundings. Taking example of diverse field of corporations, it can be easily pointed out that since an oil industry is causing possible amount of damage to the existing environment by misfortunes of oil spills or mishandling of its produced wastes, so its duty of the industry to invest the profits earned to deal with the environment degradation resulted from its operations. Certainly, corporations are earning profits but the reason they are earning is the manpower, raw materials and other factors provided by society and environment.
So to conclude we can say that money making is important for a corporation but to achieve this goal side by side well-being of society and environment in which it operates is also critical for corporation growth and sustainability.
