Citizens of this state normally oppose any new taxes
but they are in favor of taxes that support the medical initiative.........Opinion of conclusion or main point of analyst.
Candidate Johnson vowed to cut these taxes, and
he was defeated in the primary elections..........................An instance supporting the earlier premise.
Furthermore, in a poll that asked citizens, "Would you
pay higher taxes if it meant having the benefit of the new
medical initiative?", an astonishing 82% replied "Yes.".................poll which acts as evidence supporting the conclusion.
This is a pattern of support for taxes we have
not seen before in this state..............counter opinion of analyst adding that this is the first time anything such is taking place.
In the political analyst's argument, the portion in boldface plays which of the following roles?
A) It is an explanation that the argument concludes is correct.
(It is not an explanation but evidence.)
B) It is a finding that calls the main conclusion into question.
(Boldface portion is a finding but it does not call the main conclusion into question.)
C) It introduces a judgment that the argument opposes.
(It is not a judgement and also does not oppose the argument.)
D) It provides evidence in support of the main conclusion of the argument.
(This correct explains the role of boldface)
E) It is the main conclusion of the argument.
(This is not at all true as this is just an evidence)
