i think the answer should be 11.25
bcas, 225gms is 30% of 750gms. 5% of 225gms is 11.25gms which should be evoporated.
But the answer is 50gms.
what am i missing?
Brief me, if tthere is a concept behind this.
thanks.
Hi,
Rule: PERCENTAGES are not your friendsNow given that 750 gms of water contains 30% water or
30100×750 grams of water or
225 grams of water.
Let x grams of water be evaporated such that the solution now contains 25% water.
225−x750−x=25.
or
225−x750−x=14.
or
(225−x)×4=750−x.
or
3x=150 or
x=50 gms
Hence 50 grams of water needs to be evaporated.
