In Quantity A, 24/80,00=0.003, 0r .03 cents per word.
In Quantity B, 1/1000=.001, or .01 cents per word.
Quantity B is much larger. Not that your calculation was not strictly necessary---it would have been more efficient to notice that the book costs 24 times the story but has 80 times the words. (then remember to choose the larger amount!)

Here's one approach:
If a story has 1,000 words costs $1, then a a story has 24 TIMES as many words will cost 24 TIMES as much.
In other words, a short story with 24,000 words will cost $24
Compare this to the book with 80,000 words that costs $24
Both now cost $24, but the short story has far fewer words.
That means the price per word of the short story is GREATER THAN the price per word of the book.

Is it right to reason on the price per word if both the book and the short story would have 1000 words? In this case, the price of a 1000-page book would be (24$/80,000)*1000 = 0.3 $ and the price of a 1000-page short story is 24 $. Then, B is the answer!
