I gave the GRE today after more than 3 months of gruesome ordeals and contracting COVID in the last 3-4 weeks before the exam, I got an unofficial score of 311. A 154 on the Verbal and a 157 on the Quant. I'm not sure if this is the official score and would absolutely be grateful to anyone who sheds some light on this because I'm befuddled.
Anyways, lemme share my experience.
I started preparation from December 24 last year and prepared with aid from resources provided by Jamboree Nepal. I spent the whole of January and February in learning 1800 GRE words and getting a hold of the Quant concepts. In between these time periods, I was having trouble with RC questions and so I watched live recordings in the
Manhattan Prep YouTube channel. It somewhat helped me improve but not substantially because I couldn't really put the strategies into practice. As time went on, I came across GregMat while surfing through the internet to help in my improvement. I watched all his videos and discovered that the RC strategies were very close to those discussed in
Manhattan Prep live recordings if not the same. However, I found GregMat's verbal toolkit very effective even as I was having difficulties in using them. This was because I was short on time and practice. I really didn't have much trouble with the Quant questions.
I then, spent the first few weeks of March on sectional tests and for the last few weeks, I planned on taking a handful of full-length tests. However, I could only manage to take two in which I got 302 and 299. After a day or so, I became sick and tested positive for COVID Mid-March.
I could nonetheless, practice some questions and revise while I was sick. As my symptoms began to fade, and finally on the brink of recovery, the so-called COVID fatigue kicked in. I felt like I didn't wanna do anything, just sleep in my bed all day. My mind and body just didn't respond when I wanted to take a full-length test. So, I could not manage to take any full length tests over the remaining weeks except the Powerprep Test 1 I took on April 6, the day before the actual GRE exam. I got 312.
I now plan on applying to colleges for Fall 2021, but if I fail to get into any of my preferred colleges, I will almost certainly have another bite at the apple and aim for a 320+. I am confident of achieving this milestone as I know sufficient materials are available to me right here in this club. Kudos to this community and every one of you who are a part of this amazing club.
