Let the work done in first week = \(x\) hour
In the second week, the student worked 40% more hours than in the first week. Work done = \(1.4x\)
In the third week, the student worked 25% more hours than in the second week. Work done = \(1.75x\)
In the fourth week, the student worked 20% more hours than in the third week. Work done = \(2.1x = 42\) hours
By solving, \(x = 20\)
