According to science, the first step of photosynthesis happens in a light-harvesting complex, a (i) _mesh_ of proteins in which pigments are embedded, forming an antenna. The pigments — chlorophylls, in green plants — absorb light and transfer the energy to a reaction center, where the production of chemical energy for the cell’s use is initiated. The (ii) _efficiency_ of this quantum mechanical first stage of photosynthesis is nearly perfect — almost all the absorbed light is converted into electrons the system can use.
For ii), it has to be efficiency, since the following sentence talks about ''almost all the absorbed light is converted into electrons the system can use", which means it's an efficient process.
Regarding the i), there is just one pigment forming an antenna, so hierarchy is incorrect, and between mesh and series, leaf looks like a mesh.
