Topic: ''The best way to teach is to praise positive actions and ignore negative ones.”
Response: The evolution of human behavior is the resuil of 1000 years of co-existing in societies, as well the influence from asociated factors such as- climate, geography, or genetic potentials. Its been challenge in the management of any society to bring out the best positive actions and prohibit the negative ones from individuals to produce the cumulitative gain for the society. The statement abobe implies a certain way how to teach individuals to incorporate positive actions. The opinion in the statement suggests that, the best way to achieve this is to praise positive behaviors and actions and to ignore the individual when he or she produces a negative one. In my opinion, in many cases this approach brings positive results, why I mostly suport the statement, but I cannot accept it wholeheartedly as the statrement shows an approach of 'all or nothing'
The significance of positive feedback can be observed in many age classes in the society. I certainy agree that, teaching children and students, giving them praise for good works will sure boost their motivation and confidence, therefore provide good incentive to carry on with that approach. On the other hand, to reparmind or scold for an bad actions by parents or by teachers can actually produce negative results in children. Children learn from elders. Sometimes they imitite elderly actions, and in many cases the reason is to attract attention. Why this can be far more fruitful to teach children the difference between good and bad actions by providing them attention (in form of praise) or by restricting them (with ignorance).
This approach of providing incentives for good behaviors is also observed in other age classes and is incorporated to many mechanisms to increase productivity. The economic/peer-feedback based incentives is an example. 'Employe of the month ' is a position of praise given to an employee for his/her positive actions that brought productivity to the company. Now it could be more dificult to approach dealing with the negative actions in adults. many cases the negative actions are discouraged vis panishment, and one can argue that ignoring negative actions in adults might not be fruitful to teach them positivity. While this is true, but the punishment e.g. jaling can be also seen as a sort of ignorence from the society. What I mean is the idea of isolation as a form of panishment is intended to make realization to he offender, that the ingorence in the form of detached relatives, social support cuts etc. are undesirable, and thus demoralizing negative actions.
In conclusion, childhood is the most mellable time period in human life to shape the ethics and morals to distinguish right and wrong actions. I believe, praising for good actions and neglecting for badonces are better way to teach than scolding your children. Because in the adult life this will make an imapct.
