I gave my GRE last Tuesday and scored 318 (Q:164,V:154, AWA:3.5). I'm planning to pursue MS from Canada where all universities are not asking for GRE, sending GRE score is optional. Since I wanted to strengthen my profile I thought sending my scores to Universities I'm planning for (UBC, University of Toronto, McGill and Waterloo), will my AWA leave a bad impression and only make matters worse? I know 318 is not a good score, I only prepared for 1.5 months but everyone is saying it is decent enough because these universities will look at is as a filter not as a final criteria to reject my application.
kalpitgupta369In my opinion, 3.5 is a GOOD score. You will not be required to re-take it until and unless you are applying to a research based or literature program.
As
Carcass suggested, you should work on building and presenting a strong profile for the admissions committee.
Suggestion: Submit your SOPs/Essays which showcase the same writing skills as on your AWA section of GRE and your IELTS/TOEFL writing scores. There shouldn't be a mis-match.
All the best for all your future endeavours!!
