We can treat this as a triangle question.
Let's say we have a triangle ABC, such that side AB = 800 miles, and side BC = 1500 miles.
We want to find a possible length of side AC.
IMPORTANT RULE: If two sides of a triangle have lengths J and K, then . . .
DIFFERENCE between J and K < length of third side < SUM of J and K
So with the values from the question we can write: DIFFERENCE between 1500 and 800 < length of side AC < SUM of 1500 and 800
Simplify: 700 < length of side AC < 2300
We can see that the length of side AC could be 1000, 1200, 1500 and 2000
Answer: B, C, D and E
