My Response:
The issue presented in the prompt highlights on the nomadic nature of human beings. It gives two opposite views, debated on largely by humans, that whether one should lead a nomadic lifestyle to increase their ability to relate and connect to people, or, that ability is better cultivated when one lives in one place only, and develops a deep understanding of the community there. My views align more closely with leading a nomadic lifestyle, due to the following two main reasons.
Firstly, in order to relate and connect to people, you should be open to welcoming new ideas and culture. Now this thing, is greatly engendered by extensive travelling. The Earth is a very massive planet and we can see great cultural and geographical differences every 500-700 Kilometers apart. If one just lives at one place only, and doesn't travels much, he/she can lose the sense of appreciation for new culture. They might get very comfortable with, and habitual to their culture, their neighbouring people, and would be able to connect with them only. If anyone new comes in their contact, and this new person's culture is very much different from theirs, which happens very commonly, they won't be able to respond to the change, and thus won't be able to cultivate the ability to relate and connect to other people.
Secondly, when you relocate to a new place, you find a very different way of living from what you're accustomed to, and, In order to learn that way of living, you'd need some help from the local people there. This in turn would force one to talk and make a connection with new people more frequently, in turn, enhancing one's ability to connect to other people for help, and, for survival purposes. If a person lives at one place for too long, he/she might get too comfortable there and end up befriending only the first few persons they came in contact with. They might not think of going out and making new connections as they're already comfortable and get their needs fulfilled from the limited set of friends they have. This in turn detoriates there ability to make new friends and connect to more people.
The reasonings above, explain my position and views on why one should travel in live in numerous places to increase their ability to relate and connect to people. In todays interconnected world, it becomes even more important for humans to be able to connect to each other on a personal level, rather than just virtually. Travelling greatly aids a person in developing personal relations, connections, their ability to relate to other people, and gives them a broader mindset that is accepting of all.
