Re: GMAT (690) vs GRE (325) [#permalink]
Carcass rx10 Thanks for your reply! Just wanted to follow up if the timing of tests can have any affect to the credibility of the scores. To clarify, the GRE test was given over 2.5 years ago (agreed that the validity is 5 years!) and GMAT was given today. Can it any way affect me, let's say while comparing candidate who has a similar score but a recent one?

No, whatsoever.

The tests last for five years. So there is no problem.

Moreover, at a closer look, they are quite similar in years of span, so it is reasonable to infer that the two tests are consistent.

In both, you maintained a similar quant percentile and a verbal percentile.

Therefore, do not have any concerns. Focus on the rest of your application and move on.

All the best in this world

Totally agree with Carcass

Go ahead. It's not compared with when it was taken.

All the best for your next phase.

Hey everyone!

Just finished giving my GMAT exam. The results were lower than expected. I also won't be able to give the tests anytime soon since I'll be focusing on other aspects of the application procedure. I'll be going to school in Fall 2023, for MiM or equivalent courses. Below mentioned are scores, do let me know which score should be used for the following schools:

1. GRE score - 325 (Q170 V155 AWA4) - Jan 2020
2. GMAT score - 690 (Q51 V31 IR7) - Aug 2022

Schools: HEC Paris, Insead, EESEC, LBS, Duke (FUQUA), Michigan (Ross), UCLA, MIT(Sloan), Rotmann, Ivey Business School, Sauders (UBC), HEC Montreal, Schulich.

Any insights, any thoughts, any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Please consider me an absolute newbie.

Hi ShivangiGoswami,

While our response is very delayed, we believe you have a very relevant question.

As of today, both the GRE and the GMAT are equally accepted at most business schools; hence, unless the school specifies a preference, you can opt to submit any of your scores.

Both the scores are valid and the timeline does not change anything.

All the best!
