The Logical Breakdown
- The Meaning of Culminate: To culminate means to reach a climax or a point of highest development. If experimentalism "culminated" with Stockhausen, it implies he was the absolute peak or the final, most perfected version of that movement.
- The Context of "Uncharted": The sentence describes "experimentalism into uncharted sonic landscapes." By definition, if a landscape is uncharted, it is still being explored.
- The "End of the Line" Argument: The phrase "did not (i) _____ with Stockhausen" is meant to show that the movement didn't stop or expire with him. If you say it "did not die with him," you are saying the exploration continued into the future.

Why "Die" is the Stronger Fit
In GRE-style completions, you are looking for the word that best supports the idea of continuity.
1. C. Die: Suggests that Stockhausen was a pioneer, but the "life" of the movement carried on.
2. B. Culminate: This would suggest that while the movement might have continued, it never got better or further than Stockhausen. The sentence is focused on the existence of the exploration (uncharted landscapes) rather than a ranking of who did it best.

Key Distinction: You "culminate" a process (like a career or a project), but a movement or an era "dies" or "lives on." Since the sentence discusses the broad field of experimentalism, "die" provides the necessary contrast to the idea of the new album's attempt to keep that flame alive.

Perhaps there is nothing more to the album than its case that experimentalism into uncharted sonic landscapes did not (i) ______ with Stockhauen. Or perhaps its forays--many of which could rightly be dubbed sophomoric--into the avantgarde, also lead to the (ii) ________: that to create an unprecedented sound one has to (iii) _______ a discernible melody.

Lets work this out in reverse. Lets look at the last blank. The only way you can create an unprecedented sound is by rejecting a discernible melody. So clearly the choice for the third blank ought to be forgo producing.

Now, we must also take the whole paragraph and the ideas in it to complete the blanks, especially in the case of triple blanks.

Now, its not clear, why the idea that to forgo producing a discernible melody is an unwarranted hypothesis, or an uncharacteristic rebuttal (to what?), when we consider the ideas in the whole paragraph. But it can very much be an unsettling conclusion, especially when you take into account the album is experimentalist and forays into the avantgarde. Such cases of experimentation can produce an unsettling conclusion.

The phrasing "Perhaps there is nothing more to the album than its case", especially the phrase "nothing more" suggests that there is nothing spectacular about the album, it has not accomplished anything extraordinary. If come full circle or culminate were choices for the blank, it would make the album very substantial and important, and we are told that is not the case. Thus die is the best choice.
