The best way to solve environmental problems caused by consumer-generated waste is for towns and cities to impose strict limits on the amount of trash they will accept from each household.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.
From a very long time, consumer generated wastes are a real threat for environment. Especially the rapid speed with which the population of urban areas is growing due to immense technological benefits in them as compared to countryside, amount of trash generated is also increasing exponentially .
There are many ways in which consumer generated wastes can be treated after disposal. Recycling of the trash is important step in environmental preservation. Various chemical and biological methods can also be applied to treat trash generated.
Imposing strict acceptable limits on trash from each household in town and cities may lead to activities like dumping of wastes by people in rural areas or barren lands. People might not be able to reduce the waste generated by them but in the fear of strict limits tend to hide the waste generated.
In country like India, where population is high, the strict limits may lead to illegal dumping of trash when its not noticed. So proper method for solving this environmental problem is use of proper chemical and biological methods for safe degradation of wastes and making it eco-friendly before disposal into the ecosystem. Moreover, government could also promote the eco-friendly and recycled materials, so that the waste generated is easily degradable. Citizens of cities and towns should be made aware of the environmental problems caused by unnecessary waste generated by them and various educational campaigns enhancing the impacts of these factors should be launched by government.
So, in the end, we can see that imposing strict limits for acceptability of trash quantity is not advisable and not enough. Rather awareness among citizens and proper handling of the trash generated are really very important to deal with the massive environmental problems caused by them.
