The minimum value of the mean is (6+8+10+x)/4 = 6 so that x = 24-6-8-10 = 0. The maximum value, instead, is (6+8+10+x)/4 = 12 so that x = 48-6-8-10 = 24. Thus, the greatest value of x among those reported in the choices is 20. Answer C!

we know the mean is between 6 and 12, and we want to know the largest possible integer for X which means the sum of the four number is 44.(since 11 is the largest integer within the range. 6+8+10=24 44-24=20 X=20 Answer is C.
